Mało wam jeszcze ostatnio napalmu od Godz ov War? Proszę bardzo! Oto w
wasze ręce wędruje kolejne wydawnictwo z serii „Nie brać jeńców”. Tym razem
jest to debiutancki album szwedzkiego Grave Heresy. Pozwólcie, że zacznę
nietypowo, bo od pseudonimów, pod jakimi kryją się muzycy. Ox, Anonymous Undeity of Corpse Incineration; Barbed Garrote Operator;
Thermonuclear Incantations Ritual Master i Vengeful Hate Vomiter and Weaponized
Apostasy. No, to już chyba wiele spraw staje się jasnych. A przynajmniej
połowicznie, bowiem Grave Heresy to bynajmniej nie jest bezpośrednia zrzynka z
wiadomych Kanadyjczyków, acz punktów odniesienia do ich twórczości jest tu
wiele. Na pewno jednym z nich jest gęste, dudniące brzmienie, absolutnie
wojenne, choć odpowiednio selektywne. Można porównać je do odgłosu pracującego
na pełnych obrotach silnika dobrze naoliwionej machiny wojennej. Zwłaszcza
głębokie bębny sieją tutaj totalne spustoszenie, siejąc zagładę z dumnie wręcz
wtórującym im basem. Także wokale, wściekłe i zajadłe, wypluwające z siebie
całą żółć z intensywnością węża strażackiego, swoją chropowatością mogą
przypominać czcicieli cmentarza Ross Bay. Nie brak tu także bardzo
charakterystycznych ślizgów po gryfie, będących niczym wciśnięcie sprzęgła
przed wrzuceniem wyższego biegu. No i wszystko ładnie pięknie, ale Grave Heresy
dodali swojej muzyce jeszcze jeden, choć absolutnie nie mówię, że oryginalny,
element. Mianowicie wściekłość i drapieżność Angelcorpse. I to wyraźnie słuchać
zwłaszcza w pracy gitar, które nie tylko mielą wszystko na potęgę, ale także
serwują wyraźnie bardziej klasycznie deathmetalowe riffy, będące niczym
wybuchające w koło granaty, przed odłamkami których trudno się ukryć. To, co
dzieje się na „Incineration Victory” to totalna pożoga, stąd też uważam, że
panowie bardzo trafnie swój debiutancki materiał zatytułowali. Pod natężeniem
tych dźwięków wszystko płonie i zamienia się w zgliszcza, a wspomniana
wcześniej maszyna do eksterminacji prze bezwzględnie przed siebie i ani na
chwilę nie zwalnia. Ładnych melodii tu nie uświadczycie. Klasycznego układu ze
zwrotkami i refrenem też nie. Jedyne, co ta muzyka może wam dostarczyć, to
niemal fizycznie odczuwalna intensywność, zezwierzęcenie i sadyzm. Szwedzi
stworzyli hybrydę na bazie najlepszych wzorców, w efekcie czego automatycznie
wskakują do mojej osobistej ekstraklasy war/death metalowego grania. Dalsze
rekomendacje są zatem chyba zbyteczne.

Haven't you had enough napalm from
Godz ov War yet? There you go! Here is another release from the ‘Take No
Prisoners’ series marching into your hands. This time it’s a debut album from
the Swedish band Grave Heresy. Let me start in an unusual way, with the
pseudonyms under which the musicians hide. Ox, Anonymous Undeity of Corpse
Incineration; Barbed Garrote Operator; Thermonuclear Incantations Ritual Master
and Vengeful Hate Vomiter and Weaponised Apostasy. Well, I guess a lot of
things are becoming clear now. Or at least partialy, because Grave Heresy is by
no means a direct rip-off of the known Canadians, although there are many
points of reference to their work here. Certainly one of them is the dense,
rumbling sound, absolutely martial, though suitably selective. It can be
compared to the sound of an engine of a well-oiled war machine running at full
speed. The deep drums, in particular, wreak havoc with the bass that proudly
accompanies them. Also the vocals, furious and acrimonious, spitting out all
the bile with the intensity of a firehose, can be reminiscent of the
worshippers of Ross Bay Cemetery with their harshness. There are also a very
distinctive slides on the neck, which is like pressing the clutch before
shifting into a higher gear. Well, that's all pretty and nice, but Grave Heresy
added another, though I'm absolutely not saying “original”, element to their
music. Namely the fury and predation of Angelcorpse. And this is clearly
audible especially in the guitar work, which not only grind everything in range,
but also serve up clearly more classic death metal riffs, which are like grenades
exploding all over, hailing with shrapnel difficult to hide from. What happens
on ‘Incineration Victory’ is a total conflagration, hence I think the gents
have titled their debut material very aptly. Under the intensity of these
sounds, everything burns and turns into ruins, and the aforementioned
extermination machine runs ruthlessly ahead and does not slow down even for a while.
Nice melodies are not to be found here. Neither a classic arrangement with
stanzas and refrains. The only thing this music provides is an almost
physically perceptible intensity, bestiality and sadism. The Swedes have
created a hybrid based on the best patterns, and as a result they automatically
jump into my personal war/death metal premier league. Further recommendations
are therefore probably unnecessary.
