Generalnie nie jestem wielkim fanem technicznego
grania. Uważam, że im prościej, tym lepiej. Istnieją jednak, wyobraźcie sobie,
na ty świecie wyjątki, które w rzeczonym klimacie potrafią mnie totalnie
rozłożyć na łopatki. Jednym z nich, w zasadzie od zarania, jest norweski
Diskord. Nie wiem, czy panowie pewnego dnia postanowili rozwinąć dość mocno
pomysły z „For the Security” wiadomego zespołu ze Szwecji, czy wzięło im się to
samoistnie, ale bez wątpienia dość szybko wykreowali swój własny,
niepowtarzalny styl. W każdym razie, każde ich wydawnictwo łykałem dotychczas
niczym kieliszek dobrze schłodzonej wódki. Po bardzo dobrym „Degenerations”
panowie postanowili przypomnieć o swoim istnieniu za pomocą mającego ukazać się
lada chwila splitu z bliżej mi dotychczas nie znanym ATVM. O tych jednak za
chwilę, bowiem na pierwszy ogień idą cztery utwory wspomnianego Diskord.
Szatanie kochany, jaki to jest zakręt, to ja na nim nie wyrabiam i walę czołowo
w drzewo. Jeśli ktokolwiek miał wątpliwości, czy autorów genialnego
„Doomscapes” stać jeszcze na coś nietuzinkowego, to powiem wam bardzo krótko.
Te niecałe piętnaście minut to najbardziej pokręcony i pojebany materiał który
panowie nagrali. Co tu się dzieje, to ja chwilami nie ogarniam. W samym tylko,
rozpoczynającym to wydawnictwo „Onward! To Nowhere” harmonie łamane są z dziesięć
razy, tempo zmienia się jak w kalejdoskopie, a gitarzyści, i basista,
wychodzący często na pierwszy plan ze swoim bardzo ciepłym brzmieniem, mają
chyba po cztery ręce i dwadzieścia palców do rzeźbienia po gryfie. Naprawdę
ciężko opisać co tu się dzieje, bowiem muzyka tych degeneratów jest niczym
wpatrywanie się w bęben pralki. Raz, że hipnotyzuje na maksa, dwa, że co chwilę
naszym oczom pojawia się inny obraz. Możecie pomyśleć w tym momencie, że to
brzmi chaotycznie. Tak, w pełni się zgadzam! Nowe numery Diskord to chaos,
improwizacja, happening… Jednak finalnie łączący się w niesamowicie spójną
całość, obraz teoretycznie bez ładu i składu ale dla sprawnego oka będący, nie
zawaham się użyć tego słowa, arcydziełem. Tutaj nie ma elementów przypadkowych.
Wszystko zagrane zostało, i zaśpiewane, z chirurgiczną precyzją, choć być może
i ów chirurg był nieco w momencie operacji wstawiony. Dla mnie to, co Diskord
tu odjebali to mistrzostwo świata! Strona B to wspomniany wcześniej ATVM. Od
nich dostajemy dwie kompozycje, za to finalnie dłuższe, bo trwające razem
dwadzieścia jeden minut. I powiem tak… Jeśli by zamienić oba zespoły miejscami,
to ich nagrania zabrzmiałyby równie miażdżąco. Panowie także mocno rzeźbią pod
względem technicznym. Podobnie łamią tempo i harmonie, jednak może nie z taką
częstotliwością. Bez wątpienia jednak ich twórczość zdecydowanie przekracza
granicę przeciętności w gatunku grania tech-death metalu. Co prawda więcej tu
nawiązań do klasycznego śmierć metalu, tudzież jego bardziej melodyjnego brata,
jednak zawijasów, czy też fragmentu kwasi akustycznego na zakończenie,
bynajmniej nie brakuje, i opanowanie tych dwóch kompozycji także zajmuje
chwilę, bowiem poukładanie sobie tego wszystkiego w głowie jest czasochłonne.
Bardziej surowe są tutaj także wokale, w cholerę zadziorne, bardziej brutalne
niż kąśliwy głos Diskord. Nie mniej jednak oba zespoły idealnie się ze sobą na
tym splicie uzupełniają, co według mnie jest niejako zaprzeczeniem tytuły tego
wydawnictwa. Składając jednak wszystko do kupy otrzymujemy ponad pół godziny
naprawdę wyjątkowego, a w części pierwszej dosłownie genialnego grania. Nie
wyobrażam sobie, abym nie miał sobie tego wydawnictwa nie zakupić. Absolutny mus!

I'm generally
not a big fan of technical playing. I believe that the simpler, the better.
However, there are exceptions in this world, which, in said genre, are able to
completely blow me away. One of them, basically from the dawn of time, is the
Norwegian Diskord. I don't know if these guys decided one day to develop the ideas
from ‘For the Security’ by the Swedish classics, or if it came to them
spontaneously, but they undoubtedly created their own unique style quite
quickly. In any case, I have so far sipped each of their releases like a glass
of well-chilled vodka. After the very good ‘Degenerations’, the gents decided
to remind us of their existence with a forthcoming split with the so-far
unknown to me ATVM. But more on those in a moment, because the first strike is
the four tracks of the aforementioned Diskord. My dear Satan, what a twisted
piece of music it is. If anyone had any doubts as to whether the authors of the
brilliant ‘Doomscapes’ could still afford something unconventional, let me tell
you very briefly. These less than fifteen minutes are the most twisted and
fucked-up material these guys have recorded. What's going on here is beyond me
at times. In the opening track of this release alone, ‘Onward! To Nowhere’
alone, the harmonies are broken about ten times, the tempo changes like in a
kaleidoscope, and the guitarists, and the bass player, who often comes to the
fore with his very warm sound, probably have four hands and twenty fingers each
to carve on the neck. It's really hard to describe what's going on here,
because the music of these degenerates is like staring into the drum of a
washing machine. First, it hypnotises to the max, or, every now and then a
different image appears before our eyes. You may think at this point that this
sounds chaotic. Yes, I fully agree! The new Diskord songs are chaos,
improvisation, happenings... However, in the end they combine into an amazingly
coherent whole, a picture theoretically without order and composition, but
which to the trained eye is, I won’t hesitate to use this word, a masterpiece.
There are no accidental elements here. Everything is played, and sung, with
surgical precision, although perhaps the surgeon was a bit tipsy at the time of
the operation. For me, what Diskord have created here is the highest shelf!
Side B is the aforementioned ATVM. From them we get two compositions, longer in
total, as they last twenty-one minutes. And let me put it this way... If one
were to swap the two bands in places, their recordings would sound equally
crushing. The men also carve heavily in terms of technicality. They similarly
break tempo and harmonies, but perhaps not with such frequency. Without a
doubt, however, their work definitely crosses the line of mediocrity in the genre
of tech-death metal. Admittedly, there are more references to classic death
metal, or its more melodic brother, but there is no shortage of swirls, or a
piece of acoustic harmonies at the end, and mastering these two compositions
also takes a while, as putting it all together in one's head is time-consuming.
The vocals are also rougher here, damn more brutal than Diskord's biting voice.
However, the two bands complement each other perfectly on this split, which I
think kind of contradicts the title of this release. Putting it all together,
we get more than half an hour of truly exceptional, and especially in part one,
literally brilliant playing. I can't imagine not buying this release for
myself. An absolute must!
