A review of Trastorned "Into the Void"

Trastorned

"Into the Void"

Dying Victims 2022

Again Dying Victims Productions and, after the Hellish album, reviewed somewhere nearby, again Chile. That’s not all, this time it’s also thrash metal. I don't know how about you, but I find this state of affairs extremely gratifying, as bands from that corner of the world are able to take on this musical genre in a very distinctive and sincere way. In addition, if the band is able, drawing from old and well-known classics, to add something from themselves to the mosaic they are laying, especially a little bit of heart, then all the more I’m all in. Such is the case with Trastorned, which has already existed for far more than a decade and is only now releasing its debut CD. Musically we are dealing here with harmonies familiar yet from the eighties, and you could multiply comparative names here, but it is the undeniable devotion to the essence of thrash metal and the desire to cultivate its traditions that makes the music of the gentlemen from Santiago get you a huge banana on the face. The Chileans know how to put together chords combining feistiness, melody and just the right dose of technique, additionally sprinkling them with really high-class solos. The result of such a concoction is eight kicks with a Sofix-clad foot on the jaw. Well, except maybe for a brief interlude in the form of the slower instrumental "Dreadful Fate." On "Into the Void" rule the great chords, old-school, aggressive vocals, often for several voices, classic riffing and a top-notch rhythm section. It's all pretty much rushed and full of fury, like a dog hardly held on a leash. It does make you want to dance in a moshpit. Speaking of the section, it should be noted that the bass work here is truly amazing, and the fact that this instrument is brought to the forefront in some parts emphasizes this even more. Anyway, the style of playing the instrument itself can be associated somewhat with a classic, whose name will surely come to your mind as soon as you listen to these recordings.  And it's worth a listen, because this album is like a journey in a magical vehicle to metal's greatest period. So I won't waste my time to write about the details, just buy a ticket, preferably for a multiple ride. That’s the kind of thrash metal I’m buying!
