"Utyr"

Dawnbreed Records 2023

This material was originally released last year by the American label Ixiol Productions. It's now being reissued by Dutch label Dawnbreed Records, which is wonderful, because it's very good material, and the band is probably rather little known and you can't find too much about them online. Well, I wasn't too thorough in my search either. Based on Metal-Archives, I can only say that it comes from Russia, consists of three musicians, and the aforementioned production is a compilation of two EPs recorded in 2020 and 2021. Thanks to this I was able to get acquainted with these Russians, and for 40 minutes interact with black metal, which had an incredible impact on my head. The ferocious attack barraged by dissonant guitars with a surprisingly warm sound and a frenzied rhythm section create an intense and exhausting show of force. The chords flow at varying tempos, sharply wounding the central organ. Their inhumanity makes an electrifying impression. It’s pure hatred and nihilism. Evil and darkness served with decisive riffs and tremolo riffing cause incredible pain. Withdrawn bass and frantic percussion, in which the sounds of individual cymbals blend the brain. A furiously growling vocalist completes the work. These Russians present extremely intensive kind of black metal. With a disposition somewhat reminiscent of the late Craft, which can be heard mainly when listening to the first six tracks from "...I". About halfway through, the atmosphere changes a bit. This is due to the next five tracks, which were previously included on the second EP "Warfire Draconian Cult", probably the most associated with Akolyth, where the mechanicality of the guitars as well as the uncompromisingness of the riffing simply shocks, and the almost ritualistic specificity of them tantalizes and hypnotizes. Stunning production, containing satanic metal, which, based on the foundations of this faith, and some modifications, makes it extremely bestial and blasphemous. A sensational album.
