Ten album Lucifericon ukazał się pierwotnie pod
koniec ubiegłego roku w formacie CD. Kilka miesięcy później Dawnbreed Records
uszczęśliwiła zbieraczy taśm magnetofonowych, wypuszczając go w formacie
analogowym. Jako iż rzeczony materiał jakimś cudem mi w chwili premiery umknął,
mam teraz możliwość nadrobić zaległości. „The Warlock of Da’ath” jest drugim albumem tego istniejącego od roku dwa tysiące
dziewiątego tworu. Znajdziemy na nim osiem kompozycji będących amalgamatem
staroszkolnego death i black metalu, z większym naciskiem na człon pierwszy.
Myli się jednak, kto zakłada, że Lucifericon to kolejny zespół będący w prostej
linii spadkobiercą któregoś z klasyków z Florydy czy Starego Kontynentu.
Najciekawsze w twórczości Holendrów jest właśnie to, że mimo iż w ich muzyce
odnaleźć można mnóstwo inspiracji, żaden z drogowskazów nie wskaże nam jedynego,
właściwego odniesienia. Doszukamy się tu zarówno odniesienia do wczesnego
Morbid Angel, Nocturnus, norweskiego Molested ale i szwedzkich blackmetalowców
spod znaku Necrophobic czy Lord Belial. Zresztą to jedynie luźne skojarzenia,
każdy może powiązać zawartość „The Warlock of Da’ath” z zupełnie innym
przykładem. Rzecz w tym, że w kompozycjach na tym krążku naprawdę sporo się
dzieje. Niby główny nacisk położony jest tutaj na mroczny i monumentalny
klimat, ale w przeciwieństwie do wielu zespołów, które spowijając świat
ciemnością zapominają o rzeczy najważniejszej – riffach, Lucifericon serwują
ich pod dostatkiem. A uderzają one niespodziewanie z różnych stron, bowiem
tempo i akordy bardzo gęsto płynnie przechodzą z jednego w drugi, dzięki czemu
co chwilę zaskakiwani jesteśmy kolejnym nietuzinkowym pomysłem. Złożoność tego
materiału jest jego największą zaletą, bowiem z każdym kolejnym odsłuchem
nagrania te rosną w siłę, by po chwili kompletnie nas zniewolić. Klimat albumu
idealnie odzwierciedlają też partie wokalne, utrzymane głównie w kanonie
gatunku, lecz chwilami wychodzące ze sztywnych ram, nieco zaskakujące i
nadające całości odrobiny mistycyzmu. Cholernie mocny to materiał, więc jeśli
jakimś cudem jeszcze się z nim nie zapoznaliście, to warto zaległości nadrobić.
Gwarantuję, że niejeden z was wyskoczy z kapci.

This Lucifericon
album was originally released late last year in CD format. A few months later
Dawnbreed Records made tape collectors happy by releasing it in analog format.
Since the material in question somehow escaped me at the time of its release, I
now have the opportunity to catch up. "The Warlock of Da'ath" is the
second album of this creation, which has existed since the year two thousand
and nine. It features eight compositions that are an amalgam of old-school
death and black metal, with more emphasis on the first. However, wrong is who
assumes that Lucifericon is another band that is a straight line heir to any of
the classics from Florida or the Old Continent. The most interesting thing
about the Dutchmen's work is the fact that, although a lot of inspiration can
be found in their music, none of the signposts will show us the only proper
reference. We can find here influences of early Morbid Angel, Nocturnus,
Norwegian Molested, but also Swedish black metalers from the likes of
Necrophobic or Lord Belial. Anyway, these are only loose connotations, anyone
can associate the content of "The Warlock of Da'ath" with a completely
different example. The point is that there really is a lot going on in the
compositions on the album. Apparently, the main emphasis here is on the dark
and monumental atmosphere, but unlike many bands who, shrouding the world in
darkness, forget about the most important thing, which is riffs, Lucifericon
serves them in abundance. And they strike unexpectedly from different
directions, because the tempo and chords very densely smoothly move from one to
another, so that every now and then we are surprised by another unusual idea.
The complexity of this material is its greatest advantage, because with each
successive listen the recordings grow in strength, to completely enslave us
after a while. The atmosphere of the album is also perfectly reflected in the
vocal parts, kept mainly in the canon of the genre, but at times going out of
the rigid framework, a bit surprising and giving the whole a bit of mysticism.
This is damn strong material, so if you somehow haven't gotten acquainted with
it yet, it's worth catching up. I guarantee that more than some of you will literally
jump out of your boots.
