Amaltheia znacie? Niepozorna okładka zapowiadanego
nakładem naszej krajowej wytwórni debiutu jakoś nie zachęca do wyciągnięcia
ręki. Logo też trochę takie koślawe, pomyślicie zapewne, że szkoda na to czasu.
No, nie kłamiąc, też przeszła mi przez głowę podobna myśl, ale jak tylko
wrzuciłem ten krążek na ruszt, momentalnie osrałem kalesony. „Amaltheia”
to nieco ponad pół godziny death/black
metalu z gatunku tych bardziej technicznych, ale bez tak nie lubianego przeze
mnie przesadnego, muzycznego onanizmu. Krążek ten jest natomiast niezwykle
bogaty w ciekawe i często niecodzienne rozwiązania. Utwory z wielkim wyczuciem
urozmaicane są choćby nieoczekiwanymi zrywami i nagłymi atakami gitarowych
akordów i solówek. Raz zalewają uszy nakładającymi się na siebie gęsto
ścieżkami, by za chwilę, dla kontrastu, zaskoczyć minimalizmem, jak to ma miejsce
w kojarzącym mi się trochę z Molested fragmencie otwierającego całość
„Pyre”. Są w tych kompozycjach takie
miejsca, gdzie każdy instrument gra praktycznie co innego tworząc ogólny
dysonans, niemal chaos. A jednak okiełzany. Tak, Amaltheia na swoim pierwszym
longu ostro pokombinowali. A to czarują
melodyjnym tremolo lekko pod Mgłę, a to zaserwują potężny, zapiaszczony fragment
Portalowy by następnie zahipnotyzować powtarzanym wielokrotnie motywem,
pogrążyć ciężką harmonią a’la Immolation a na końcu pokręcić nam ostatecznie w
głowie DeathspellOmegowymi dysonansami. Jakichkolwiek innych nazw
przychodzących na myśl by nie wymieniać, faktem niezaprzeczalnym jest, że i tak
wszystkie inspiracje przechodzą tu przez pryzmat Amaltheia, bowiem panowie
wprowadzili te klasyczne wpływy w inny, swój własny wymiar. Wymiar, gdzie nic
tak naprawdę nie jest oczywiste i przewidywalne. Na „Amaltheia” jest co
odkrywać, bowiem ogromu detali ukrytych pod główną warstwą dźwięku wychwycić na
szybko się nie da. Wszystkie te muzyczne wygibasy zostały uzupełnione o
death/blackmetalowe dialogi wokalne i wyprodukowane na organicznym
czarnoziemie. Uwagę zwraca tu świetna praca nie tylko gitar, ale i perkusji,
często niestandardowa, z technicznymi zwrotami akcji. To może się wydawać
przerażające, ale ta płyta, mimo iż i tak nokautuje od samego początku, w miarę
bliższego jej poznawania jeszcze bardziej rośnie i nabiera mocy. Nie wiem
jakiego Pegazusa włodarze Godz Ov War używają, ale w tym roku już drugi raz, po
świetnym Corrupter, wygrzebują spod ziemi debiutanta, który mi kasuje system.
„Amaltheia” jest tak kurewsko wciągająca, że do przerwania odsłuchu zmusiłby
mnie chyba wyłącznie pożar chałupy. W towarzystwie takich albumów człowiek
żałuje, że nie ma, jak kot, siedmiu żyć, bo sześć spędziłby napawając się ich
dźwiękami. Dla mnie totalna rewelacja.

Do you know
Amaltheia? The inconspicuous cover of the debut announced by our national label
does not encourage you to reach out. The logo is also a bit lopsided, so you
will probably think that it is a waste of time. Well, without lying, a similar
thought crossed my mind, but as soon as I played the record, I immediately shit
my pants. "Amaltheia" is a little over half an hour of death / black
metal of the more technical genre, but without exaggerated musical masturbation
that I don't really like. This album, however, is extremely rich in interesting
and often unusual solutions. The songs are varied with great sensitivity, for
example, by unexpected outbursts and sudden attacks of guitar chords and solos.
Once they flood your ears with densely overlapping tracks, and in a moment, for
the contrast, surprise with minimalism, as is the fragment of opening the lot
"Pyre", that reminds me a bit of a Molested’s song. There are places
in these compositions where each instrument plays practically something
different, creating a general dissonance, almost chaos. And yet tamed. Yes,
Amaltheia made a lot of twists on their first album. They charm with a melodic
tremolo slightly reminding Mgła, next they serve a powerful, sandy Portal
fragment, then hypnotize with a repeated motif, plunge you into heavy harmony
Immolation-like, and finally make you dizzy with DeathspellOmegish dissonances.
Whatever other bands’names come to your mind, it is an undeniable fact that all
inspirations here go through the prism of Amaltheia, because the guys introduced
these classic influences into another, their own dimension. A dimension where
nothing is really obvious and predictable. There is a lot to discover on
"Amaltheia", because it is impossible to catch the enormity of details
hidden under the main layer of sound quickly. All these musical twists have
been supplemented with death / black metal vocal dialogues and produced on
organic black earth. What draws attention here is the great work of not only
the guitars, but also the drums, often non-standard, with technical twists. It
may seem scary, but this album, despite the fact that it knocks you out from
the very beginning, the more you get to know it, the more it grows and gains
even more power. I do not know what Pegasus the Godz Ov War scouts are using,
but this year for the second time, after the great Corrupter debut, they are
digging up a debutant that totally turns my value system upside down.
"Amaltheia" is so fucking addictive that only the cottage fire would
force me to stop the listening session. In the company of such albums, one
regrets that they have no seven lives like a cat, because they would spend six
of them enjoying such tunes. Absolutely outstanding one for me!
