Ep-ka Putrid Evocation, będąca przedmiotem
dzisiejszej recenzji, ukazała się pierwotnie w zeszłym roku nakładem Burning
Coffin Records. Jak to jednak często bywa, wydania południowoamerykańskie są
albo ciężko dostępne na naszym kontynencie, albo najzwyczajniej w świecie dość
drogie. Stąd też niezmiernie cieszy mnie fakt, iż Dawnbreed Records zdecydowało
się na jej wznowienie. „Eternal
Gloom: A Void of Agony and Repugnancy” to materiał, który wręcz kipi gniewem. Co
ciekawe, death metal w wykonaniu Chilijczyków nie jest typowym graniem z tamtego rejonu świata. Począwszy
od brzmienia, które jest stosunkowo czytelne i masywne. Mniej w nim typowego
brudu, gitary strojone są niżej a perkusja wybrzmiewa czysto ale głęboko. Jeśli
przyjdzie wam tu na myśl sposób, w jaki realizowane są produkcje fińskich
przedstawicieli gatunku, to będziecie na dość dobrej drodze. Oczywiście pełna
organika i zero komputera, wszystko utrzymane jest w staroszkolnych
standardach. Co się natomiast tyczy samej muzyki, to oparta jest ona zarówno na
klasykach gatunku jak i graniu nieco bardziej nowoczesnym. Zmieniające się
tempo, zejścia z pełnej szybkości do ostrego hamowania czy płynnie przechodzące
z jednego z drugi zagęszczone akordy mogą przynieść na myśl zarówno wczesny
Amorphis, Convulse, Dead Congregation jak i Suffering Hour, zwłaszcza przy
okazji pojawiających się dysonansowych wstawek. Putrid Evocation posiadają
ponadto ogromną zaletę, którą jest umiejętność łączenia niebywałego wręcz
ciężaru z płynnie sączącą się melodią. Tajemniczą i nieco hipnotyzującą,
rozkazującą podążać za sobą jak za zaczarowanym
fletem. Tylko, że ten nasz spacer odbywa się w maksymalnie zagęszczonej aurze,
potęgowanej jeszcze bardziej za pomocą pojawiających się między numerami
właściwymi interludiów. Mimo swojej gęstości, muzyka na „”Eternal Gloom…” nie
stanowi ściany dźwięku. Tu każdy najdrobniejszy detal ma swoją rolę, stąd też
wszystkie ornamenty są, może nie wysunięte na pierwszy plan, ale na pewno nie
schowane całkowicie w tle. Te dwadzieścia sześć minut to prawdziwa
deathmetalowa uczta, materiał pukający do bram doskonałości. I na pewno jeden z najlepszych albumów jakie słyszałem w
tym roku. Bezwzględnie pozycja obowiązkowa dla każdego maniaka metalu śmierci.

The EP Putrid
Evocation, which is the subject of today's review, was originally released last
year by Burning Coffin Records. However, as it often happens, the South
American editions are either hardly available on our continent, or simply quite
expensive. Hence, I am extremally pleased that Dawnbreed Records has decided to
re-release it in Europe. "Eternal Gloom: A Void of Agony and Repugnancy"
is a material full of anger. Interestingly, death metal performed by Chileans
is not typical for most tunes from South America. Starting with the sound, that
is relatively clearer but at the same time massive as fuck. There may be less of
the typical dirt in it, the guitars are tuned lower and the drums sound clean
and deep. If you think about the way the Finnish releases of the genre are
produced, you will be partially on your way. Of course, the sound is fully
organic, no computer sterility, everything is kept to old school standards. As
for the music itself, it is based both on the classics of the genre and a bit
more modern playing. Changing pace, descending from full speed to hard braking
or smoothly changing dense chords can bring to mind both the early Amorphis,
Convulse, Dead Congregation and Suffering Hour, especially when dissonant parts
appear. Putrid Evocation also has a great advantage, which is the ability to
combine incredible weight with a smoothly seeping melody. Mysterious and a bit
mesmerizing, commanding to follow itself like an enchanted flute. Only that our
walk takes place in the most dense aura, intensified even more by the dark interludes
appearing between the songs. Despite its density, the music on "Eternal
Gloom ..." is not a wall of sound. Here, every smallest detail has its
role, hence all the ornaments are, maybe not in the foreground, but certainly
not completely hidden in the back. These twenty-six minutes are a real death
metal feast, a release knocking at the gates of perfection. And definitely one
of the best ones I've heard this year. An absolute must for any metal of death
fanatic.
