Proscription wracają z drugim albumem! Ależ to jest
piękna wiadomość. Od debiutanckiego „Condiut” minęło pięć lat, które w
przypadku tego zespołu ciągnęły mi się w nieskończoność. Mam wrażenie, że nazwa
ta nie jest zbyt popularna, czy znana, nad Wisłą, a przecież głównodowodzący, Christbutcher, działał już
uprzednio choćby w takich składach jak Maveth, Cryptborn czy Excommunion. O
Proscription można powiedzieć jedno. O ile istnieje tysiąc kapel silnie
zainspirowanych muzyką Immolation, tak jedynie kilka z nich, na bazie
twórczości Vigny i Dolana stworzyli coś własnego. Wymienię tu tylko Phobocosm,
Dead Congregation, i właśnie Proscription, czego najlepszym dowodem jest
„Desolate Divine”. Ten krążek to niemal trzy kwadranse gęstego death metalu w
najlepszym stylu. Każdy z umieszczonych tutaj kawałków to żywy ogień, potężny
kafar uderzający w zwoje mózgowe z niezwykłą siłą. Uderzający w bardzo
przemyślany sposób, to należy podkreślić, bowiem Proscription nie atakują
riffami na oślep. Tutaj wszystko jest poukładane z chirurgiczną precyzją, każde
przejście, każdy następujący po sobie akord, każdy niszczycielski, wypluwany z
wnętrza żołądka werset. Na dobrą sprawę, kiedy szczęka opadnie nam na podłogę
już przy otwierającym całość „Gleam of the Morning Star”, to zanim wybrzmi
ostatni dźwięk, nie ma wolnej chwili by ją podnieść. Mnóstwo przewijających
się, gdzieniegdzie nawet posplatanych ze
sobą melodii, zmian tempa, sączącej się z każdej nuty nienawiści i niebywałego
ciężaru. Można powiedzieć, sto procent death metalu w death metalu i
kwintesencja stylu. Wspomniałem na początku o Immolation. Tak, nietrudno jest
wychwycić podobieństwa, choćby w charakterystycznych zagrywkach gitarowych czy
wspomnianych przed chwilą melodiach. Podkreślę to jednak raz jeszcze, o żadnym
kopiowaniu nie ma tutaj mowy, bo death metal w wykonaniu Proscription ma
własne, choć równie mroczne i obrzydliwe oblicze. Jeśli jednak to pojedyncze
odniesienie to dla was za mało i potrzebujecie dodatkowych drogowskazów, to
dopowiem, że czuć w tych dźwiękach wibracje podobne do Lvcifyre czy
wymienionego już na wstępie Maveth. Nie mogę nie wspomnieć o brzmieniu. To,
jest w moich uszach, praktycznie idealne. Bębny chodzą masywnie, bas
odpowiednio dociąża całość, a atakujące niemal z każdego kierunku linie
gitarowe sieją totalne spustoszenie. I mimo iż chwilami jest tu naprawdę gęsto,
absolutnie nic nie ginie w ścianie dźwięku. „Desolate Divine” z każdym kolejnym
odsłuchem wbija się w nasz umysł coraz głębiej i naprawdę wciśnięcie przycisku
„stop” przy tym albumie jest nie lada wyzwaniem. Nie znajduję na nim słabych
punktów. Absolutnie fantastyczny materiał i jeden z silniejszych kandydatów do
deathmetalowej płyty roku!

back with their sophomore album! What a wonderful news this is. It's been five
years since the debut “Condiut”, which, in the case of this band, has dragged
on forever for me. I have the impression that the name is not very popular, or
well-known, over the Vistula, and yet the commander, Christbutcher, acted
previously in such bands as Maveth, Cryptborn and Excommunion. One thing can be
said about Proscription. While there are a thousand bands strongly inspired by
Immolation's music, only a few of them have created something of their own,
based on Vigna and Dolan’s work. To mention only Phobocosm, Dead Congregation,
and just Proscription, the best proof of which is “Desolate Divine”. This album
is almost three quarters of dense death metal at its best. Each of the tracks
here is a living fire, a powerful pile driver hitting the brain ganglia with
extraordinary force. Striking in a very thoughtful way, it should be
emphasized, for Proscription do not attack blindly with riffs. Here everything
is arranged with surgical precision, each transition, each following chord,
each devastating verse spit out from inside the stomach. For all intents and
purposes, once your jaw drops to the floor already at the opening of the whole
thing, “Gleam of the Morning Star,” by the time the last sound fades away,
there is no free moment to pick it up. Lots of raging, sometimes even
intertwined melodies, tempo changes, hatred oozing from every note and
incredible heaviness. You could say, one hundred percent death metal in death
metal and the quintessence of the style. I mentioned Immolation at the
beginning. Yes, it's not difficult to catch the similarities, if only in the
characteristic guitar lines or the melodies. However, let me emphasize again,
there is no question of copying, because death metal performed by Proscription
has its own, albeit equally dark and horrifying face. However, if this single
reference is not enough for you and you need additional tips, I will add that
you can feel in these sounds vibrations similar to Lvcifyre or the
aforementioned Maveth. I can't help but mention the sound. To my ears, it is
practically perfect. The drums go massive, the bass appropriately weighs the
whole thing down, and the guitar lines attacking from almost every direction
wreak total havoc. And even though at times it is really dense here, absolutely
nothing gets lost in the wall of sound. “Desolate Divine” digs deeper and
deeper into our minds with each listen, and it's really quite a challenge to
press the “stop” button with this album. I don't find any weak points on it.
Absolutely fantastic material and one of the stronger candidates for death
metal album of the year!
