Praktycznie nigdy nie sprawdzam numerów promujących
jakieś wydawnictwo. Powodów jest kilka, a najlepszym dowodem na słuszność
jednego z nich jest wydana latem tego roku debiutancka EP-ka amerykańskiego Cruenation.
O co chodzi? Ano o to, iż często utwór promujący nie do końca odzwierciedla
jakość całości i nie zawsze jest dla niej reprezentatywny. Ot, załóżmy, że
sprawdzilibyście sobie otwierający rzeczone wydawnictwo „Scene of Crucifixion”…
Założę się, iż większość byłaby przekonana, że „Crucifixion” to jedynie
kolejny, typowy war metalowy łomot. Bo takie faktycznie można z początku
wyciągnąć wnioski. Rzecz w tym, że w połowie drugiego kawałka robi się
ciekawie. Przynajmniej w kategorii muzyki prostej, bo taką bez wątpienia jest
debiutancki materiał Cruentation. Jednak poza wojennymi akordami panowie wcale
nie trzymają się kurczowo gatunku jak małpa palmy. Owszem, sporo tutaj
bestialstwa i napalmu o poranku, jednak Amerykanie bardzo umiejętnie swoje
bojowe natarcie planują. Nie jest to jedynie szturm, lecz taktycznie
przemyślana wojskowa operacja. Zatem poza wspomnianymi już surowymi kanonadami
sporo tu zwolnień i zmian tempa, nawet po funeral doomowe włącznie. Również
poza obecnym w tych dźwiękach chaosem, da się tu odnaleźć kilka fragmentów
bardziej melodyjnych i chwytliwych. I nie mówię bynajmniej o oklepanych i
przewidywalnych rytmicznych wejściach, lecz klimacie bliższym szkole fińskiej
czy brytyjskiej. Są to co prawda drobne dodatki, ale robiące olbrzymią różnicę.
Poprzez takie zabiegi, to co słyszymy na tej EP-ce nie nuży i bynajmniej nie
sprawia wrażenia jak byśmy słuchali jednego numeru na repeat. Nie zmieniają one
jednak faktu, iż nadal pozostajemy w surowej niszy, czego najwyraźniej
słyszalnym dowodem niech będzie brzmienie tych nagrań. Mocno garażowe, proste i
nie dopieszczone, z głośno stukającymi bębnami i kilogramem kurzu na gitarach.
Na to wszystko przychodzi jeszcze solidny, mocno growl i można ruszać do ataku.
Co prawda niespełna dwudziestominutowego, ale za to bardzo niszczycielskiego.
Zdecydowanie polecam.

I practically never check out singles promoting a release. There are
several reasons for this, and the best proof of the validity of one of them is
the debut EP by American Cruenation, released earlier this summer. What's the
point? Well, the point is that often the promo track does not fully reflect the
quality of the whole and is not always representative of it. Well, suppose you
were to check out the opening track of the release in question, "Scene of
Crucifixion"... I bet most would be convinced that "Crucifixion"
is just another typical war metal rumble. Because that is indeed what one might
conclude at first. The thing is, halfway through the second track it gets
interesting. At least in the category of straightforward music, because such is
undoubtedly Cruentation's debut material. However, apart from the martial
chords, the gentlemen do not at all stick to the genre like a monkey to a palm
tree. Yes, there is a lot of bestiality and napalm in the morning here, but the
Americans plan their militant assault very skillfully. It is not just a charge,
but a tactically thought-out military operation. So in addition to the
aforementioned raw cannonades, there are a lot of slowdowns and tempo changes
here, even up to funeral doom. Also, apart from the chaos present in these
sounds, it is possible to find here a few fragments that are more melodic and
catchy. And I'm by no means talking about crummy and predictable rhythmic
chords, but an atmosphere closer to the Finnish or British school. These are
admittedly small additions, but they make a huge difference. Thanks to such
procedures, what we hear on this EP does not bore us and doesn’t gives the
impression of listening to one track on repeat. However, they don't change the
fact that we still remain in a raw niche, of which let the sound of these recordings
be the most audible proof. Heavily garage-like, simple and unpolished, with
loudly clattering drums and a pound of dust on the guitars. On top of all this
comes a solid, hard-hitting growl and you can go on the attack. Admittedly less
than twenty minutes long, but very devastating. Definitely recommended.
