Lucille
“Dawn of
Destruction”
Dying Victims
Prod. 2025
Florian seems to
have taken a liking to our country, because every now and then he digs up tasty
morsels from our backyard. One can only be surprised that it is an outsider who
does this, and not the owners of our national labels. The fact is that Lucille
is another representative of the trend, which is not very popular (read:
financially unprofitable), because the guys mentally turn to the eighties, even
though they were not even in the world then. However, this doesn't stop them
from creating music so strongly old-school that many would be fooled into
thinking that “Dawn of Destruction” is some long-forgotten or overlooked album
from forty years ago. To put it briefly and to the point, the debut of our
compatriots is just over forty minutes of speed / thrash metal. Completely not
innovative, based on known and proven patterns, while at the same time so
thrilling that your panties fall off your ass. The individual tracks on this
album are somewhat bounced off the template, as they are kept at a similar pace
and similarly arranged. What makes up for this, however, is the wealth of
rousing riffs, dance-inducing melodies and high class oldschool solos. The
vocals are also a style from the past, that is, rough singing interspersed with
entrances to higher registers. All of this is done with extraordinary care,
flowing straight from the heart with sincerity and devotion to the music that
shaped people's consciousness decades ago. Fuck, listening to such recordings
makes me wonder how people who could be my children feel in a similar way to me
about the sounds that are the underpinnings of the heavier metal genres. It's
damned gratifying to hear. Lucille are proof that the old school of
thrash/speed metal is immortal, and even if some people have long since written
it off, there are still bands emerging from the underground, proving that this flame is still burning. I
won't break down this album into parts. I'll just say this much - “Dawn of
DEstruction” is music for geeks of old. Music that rejuvenates and makes us
once again feel like giving someone a slap, just for not listening to metal. I
am absolutely in. Thanks guys!
