Takie kasety to lepsze od kobiety. Stęskniliście się
za Hexorcist? Bo ja już trochę tak, choć nie można zarzucić Amerykanom, że nie
dbają o słuchacza. Po zeszłorocznym splicie z Putrid, panowie postanowili
przypomnieć o sobie po raz kolejny, także za pomocą materiału łączonego, tym
razem w towarzystwie Morbid Messiah. Oba zespoły serwują po dwa kawałki, co
daje łącznie jakieś dwanaście minut deathmetalowego wyrzygu. Strona pierwsza to
autorzy „Evil Reaping Death”. Tutaj sprawa jest prosta jak jebanie. Jeśli
ktokolwiek potrafi w dzisiejszych czasach wskrzeszać ducha wczesnego Morbid
Angel, to będą to w pierwszej linii właśnie wspomniani Jankesi. Już poprzednie
wydawnictwa bardzo mocno zalatywały klimatem „Abominations of Desolation”, ale
tym razem można odnieść wrażenie, jakby „Exonerating Malediction” i „
Veneration of Irreverence” stanowiły dwie zaginione kompozycje z sesji tegoż
albumu. Gitarowe harmonie to czysta poezja i prawdziwy kult klasyków z Florydy.
Ostre jak żyletka riffy podkręcane Trey’owymi solówkami, świetne partie bębnów
i szorstki wokal, tez jakby celowo stylizowany barwą i manierą na wczesnego
Vincenta, to głęboki ukłon dla końcówki lat osiemdziesiątych i okresu, kiedy
deathmetalowy potwór wychylił łeb nad powierzchnię. Jeśli już wspomniałem o
wokalach, to nadmienić należy, ze odpowiada za nie Gene Palubicki, który to
jakiś czas temu podmienił na stanowisku śpiewaka jednego z „Hexorcistów”.
Przyznam się jednak, że gdyby ów fakt był mi nieznany, nigdy bym nie wpadł, że
to właśnie ten pan stoi obecnie za mikrofonem, gdyż jego sposób śpiewania różni
się wyraźnie od tego, co robi w macierzystym zespole. No, jeśli panowie
utrzymają obecny kurs i formę, to czuję, że kolejna duża płyta zabije. Morbid
Messiah prezentuje się zdecydowanie bardziej surowo, albo, jak ktoś woli,
garażowo. Brzmienie ich kompozycji jest bowiem zdecydowanie prymitywniejsze i
trącące kanciapą. Podobnie sprawa ma się z dwiema kompozycjami na tej stronie
taśmy. Mniej tutaj chwytliwego riffowania a więcej gruzu, brutalności i
barbarzyństwa. Meksykanie, jak im tradycja narodowa nakazuje, nie pierdolą się
w tańcu, tylko atakują prostymi, wściekłymi harmoniami, bardziej na zasadzie
tarana niż taktycznie przemyślanego planu. Nie znaczy to jednak, że mamy tutaj
dudnienie na jedno kopyto przez sześć minut, gdyż nie jest to bezmyślna
sieczka. Z tym, że wszelkie zmiany tempa, czy momenty na złapanie oddechu
zostały tutaj ograniczone do minimum, a główny nacisk położony na zadawanie
obficie krwawiących ran. Oba zespoły serwują zatem klasyczny metal śmierci, oba
z nieco innego punktu widzenia, ale oba wychodzą w tej krótkiej potyczki z
tarczą. Bo jestem przekonany, że jeśli ktoś dotychczas nie znał któregoś z
nich, po odsłuchaniu rzeczonego splitu poczuje nieodpartą potrzebę nadrobienia
zaległości. Wspaniała przystawka, palce lizać.

Such tapes are
better than a woman. Have you missed Hexorcist? Because I already have a
little, although you can't accuse the Americans of not caring about the listener.
After last year's split with Putrid, the gentlemen decided to remind of
themselves once again, also with combined material, this time accompanied by
Morbid Messiah. Both bands serve up two tracks each, bringing the total of
twelve minutes of deathmetal vomit. Side one is the authors of "Evil
Reaping Death." Here the matter is as simple as fucking. If anyone can
resurrect the spirit of early Morbid Angel these days, it would be the
aforementioned Yankees in the first place. Already the previous releases were
very much inundated with the atmosphere of "Abominations of Desolation",
but this time it feels as if "Exonerating Malediction" and "
Veneration of Irreverence" were two lost compositions from the sessions of
the forementioned album. The guitar harmonies are pure poetry and true worship
of the Florida classics. Razor-sharp riffs enforced by Trey-like solos, great
drumming and harsh vocals, also deliberately stylized in timbre and manner to
early Vincent, are a deep bow to the late eighties and the period when the
death metal monster raised its head above the surface. If I have already
mentioned the vocals, it should be mentioned that Gene Palubicki, who some time
ago replaced one of the "Hexorcists" on the singing position, is
responsible for them. I must admit, however, that if this fact had been unknown
to me, I would have never guessed that it is this gentleman who is currently
behind the microphone, as his way of singing is clearly different from what he
does in his own band. Well, if the gentlemen maintain their current course and
form, I feel that the next big album will kill. Morbid Messiah presents a
decidedly more raw, or, if you prefer, garage-oriented tunes. Indeed, the sound
of their compositions is decidedly more primitive and reeking of rehearsal room.
The case is similar with the two compositions on this side of the tape. Less catchy
riffing here and more rubble, brutality and barbarism. The Mexicans, as their
national tradition dictates, don't fuck around, but attack with simple, furious
harmonies, reminding more of a battering ram attack than a tactically
thought-out plan. This doesn't mean, however, that we have samey for six
minutes, because it's not a mindless chaff. With that said, any tempo changes
or moments to catch a breath are kept to a minimum here, and the main emphasis
is on inflicting profusely bleeding wounds. So both bands serve up classic
death metal, both from a slightly different point of view, but both come out in
this brief skirmish with a shield. So I'm convinced that if one is not familiar
with either of the bands so far, after listening to the said split they will
feel an irresistible urge to catch up. A great appetizer, finger licking good.
