No tak, Zorzy jeszcze w katalogu polskiego black metalu nie było. No to
już jest. To znaczy pojawiła się na nieboskłonie już w zeszłym roku, za sprawą
wypuszczonej w formacie CD i cyfrowym EP-ki „EIE”, jednak jakoś to zjawisko
przeoczyłem. Tym razem wydawca zadbał, bym materiał odsłuchał, i tak oto
„Hellven” wylądowało w moim odtwarzaczu. I cóż ja biedny mogę powiedzieć, by po
raz kolejny nie zabrzmiało to niczym banał. Nasza krajowa scena to w tej chwili
mistrzostwo świata i okolic, a kolejnym dowodem na to jest właśnie ”Hellven”. Ten
krążek to absolutny narkotyk. Przede wszystkim za sprawą swojej melodyjności.
Nieprzesadnej, jadowitej, kojarzącej się mocno z drugą falą. I może na ten
temat zagrane zostało już wiele, jednak mimo pewnego rodzaju odtwórczości
materiał Zorzy potrafi niesamowicie bujać, nie wnosząc niby niczego nowego do
rzeczonego nurtu, a zarazem stanowić kolejną cegiełkę do niezniszczalnego muru
twierdzy pod nazwą „Polski Black Metal”. Zespół odnosi się w swoich
kompozycjach bardzo silnie do wpływów północnych, głównie szwedzkich, ze
względu na charakterystyczne melodie, chwilami zahaczając także o pozostałe
rejony Skandynawii, nie stroniąc chwilami od elementów bardziej współczesnych.
Nowatorstwa w tym raczej nie uświadczymy, aczkolwiek żaden maniak drugiej fali
black metalu chyba by w tym przypadku tego nie oczekiwał. Liczy się fakt, że Zorza potrafią rzetelnie odrobić
lekcje zadane przez kreujących onegdaj rzeczony nurt profesorów. Bo z tego
zadania zespół wywiązuje się znakomicie. Przede wszystkim panowie wiedzą, jak
zachować balans w melodii, by ta dość szybko wpadała w ucho, a jednocześnie nie
mdliła nadmiarem cukru. Potrafią także wrzucić w te pozornie miłe harmonie
sporo jadu i złości, czyniąc je zabójczo efektywnymi. Posłuchajcie choćby „The
Crown with Silver Thorns” z hipnotycznym tremolo i zdradliwym, akustycznym
interludium, po którym następuje powrót zimy ze świetną, klasyczną solówką pod
koniec utworu. „Hellven” ma bardzo wiele do zaoferowania i jest płytą która
wciąga niczym bagno. Może nie jest to od
razu kandydat do płyty roku, ale bardzo silny przedstawiciel blackmetalowej
sceny. Zdecydowanie warto się z tym wydawnictwem zapoznać.

Well, yes, Zorza (Aurora in Polish)
hasn’t so far appeared in the catalog of Polish black metal. Well, so here it
has now. I mean, it had already turned up in the sky last year, thanks to the
EP “EIE” released on CD and in digital format, but somehow I overlooked this
phenomenon. This time the publisher made sure that I listened to the material,
and so “Hellven” landed in my player. And what can poor me say, lest it once
again sound like a cliché. Our domestic scene is supreme in the world and the
surrounding areas at the moment, and “Hellven” is another proof of this. This
album is an absolute drug. First of all, due to its melodiousness. Not
exaggerated, venomous, strongly associated with the second wave. And maybe a
lot has already been played on this subject, but despite a certain kind of
reproducibility, Zorza's material can be incredibly catching, seemingly bringing
nothing new to the said genre, and at the same time being another brick to the
indestructible wall of the fortress called “Polish Black Metal”. The band
refers in its compositions very strongly to northern influences, mainly
Swedish, due to its characteristic melodies, at times also hooking on other
regions of Scandinavia, and not shying away from more contemporary inspirations.
No novelty is likely to be found here, but no second-wave black metal maniac
would expect that in this case. What matters is that Zorza are able to reliably
do their homework given by the professors who created the genre in the past.
Because the band performs excellently at this task. First of all, the gentlemen
know how to keep the balance in melody, so that it catches the ear quite
quickly, and at the same time does not nauseate with too much sweetness. They
also know how to throw a lot of venom and anger into these seemingly nice
harmonies, making them deadly effective. Take a listen to “The Crown with
Silver Thorns,” for example, with its hypnotic tremolo and treacherous acoustic
interlude, followed by the return of winter, with a great classical solo near
the end of the song. “Hellven” has a lot to offer and is an album that draws
you in like a swamp. It may not immediately be a candidate for the album of the
year, but it is a very strong representative of the black metal scene.
Definitely worth getting acquainted with this release.
