A review of Aggressive Perfector “Come Creeping Fiends”

Aggressive Perfector

“Come Creeping Fiends”

Dying Victims Prod. 2026

When it comes to Dying Victims, it's clear that we're traveling in a time machine to the metal Middle Ages. In other words, in our times, somewhere around the 1980s, because it's rare for this label to release bands inspired by a later period. Aggressive Perfector is no exception. The band comes from the British Isles, and “Come Creeping Fiends” is their second full-length album. While their first album didn't particularly move me, or maybe I was just in a bad mood, this half of an hour gave me quite an experience. Mainly related, of course, to childhood memories, because the guys draw heavily on the legacy of classics such as Slayer, Bulldozer, or even the more heavy metal Tank. Yes, I say “more heavy metal,” but I didn't mention that Aggressive Perfector plays top-notch speed metal. Listening to the nine compositions on this album makes you want to put on a leather jacket, leather pants, a studded belt, cuffs, and bang your head in a crazy heavy metal dance. Believe me, I've heard a lot of albums of a similar style in my life, but playing these old, theoretically worn-out, repetitive melodies with such verve and passion as the Brits do simply forceses me to make a fool of myself, waving my clenched fist in front of my family sitting on the couch and making silly faces. I just go completely nuts. What can I say to you that won't sound exceptionally banal? That Aggressive Perfector can play great melodies? That you can hear they haven't just picked up their instruments yesterday? That they are old-school maniacs? On the other hand, what can I write about music that really is banal, at least from a certain point of view? The guys have an old vibe, they fit right in, and they play as if the eighties never ended. And they do it at the highest level. Do I have to write something about the sound? Come on, everyone can tell that everything here works organically, just like in the old days. Anyway, why should I add anything else? It's a waste of time. I'd rather go headbanging and make silly faces. Oh, and I'll open a beer, because this kind of music goes well with amber. Cheers!
