A review of INSANE "Victims"

"Victims"

Dying Victims Productions 2021

The ending of Anno Bastardi 2021 brought us a lot of very good Thrash and Speed Metal albums. Undoubtedly, this group includes the second, full lenght material of the Swedish Insane, which was given the name "Victims". The fuck up is really specific here, because this album contains a little over 42 minutes of purebred, off-the-boot, classic Thrash Metal set very deeply in the second half of the 80's (but in the first one too). So the guys don’t fuck around and get inspired quite strongly by what bands like Slayer, Razor, Onslaught, Exciter, or Whiplash played back then, but they do not only ripp off the old masters, leaving in this music their characteristic touch and their own identity. From the very beginning, we are attacked with ruthless, aggressive percussions, cunt-tearing, rough basslines, poisonous, spicy, raw, catchy riffs, excellent solos and aggressive, furious vocals with gentle reverberation. We will also hear, obviously, small references to traditional Heavy Metal or pissed off Hc / Punk, but they do not break down this production and do not weaken the impact of this album, on the contrary, they make "Victims" cruelly and ruthlessly ill. Most of this album is high speed songs, but even these slightly slower compositions contain so much anger that it could be enough to share it with some other albums. This bloodthirsty album focuses on the twisted, depraved world of Swedish murderers has one more advantage. This record exudes a wonderful, delicious feeling of the old school and evokes the authentic spirit of the 80's, which is greatly helped by the sound of this material. Grainy, biting, dirty, with an analog character, smelling of the rehearsal room with stinking beer and the musicians' sweat. So if you have dug "Show No Mercy", "Executioner's Song" or "Power From Hell" several times and you practically know these albums by heart, and you built an altar for "Hell Awaits", the second longplay of these four guys from Kristinehamn at Lake Vänern is made perfectly for you. Very good, classic, Thrash Metal. Fuck, I am waiting for more.
