Płyty pokroju “Extinction Protocol” są w zasadzie
banalne do rozgryzienia. Tutaj w zasadzie od pierwszej chwili wszystko jest
oczywiste. Logo, którego odczytanie to zajęcie dla kryptografa, okładka, która
wymownie sugeruje, iż dzieje się tu wojna, pseudonimy artystyczne muzyków, że o
tytule wydawnictwa i nazwie zespołu nie wspomnę. Aż chce się zaśpiewać klasyka
„I żywy stąd nie wyjdzie nikt…”. I słusznie, bowiem sztukę zabijania panowie z
Primitive Warfare opanowali do, nomen omen, perfekcji. Jest to muzyka bez
większej filozofii, no chyba że za takową uznamy totalne zniszczenie. Przez
circa pół godziny taranowani jesteśmy kanonadą blastów, których tempo niezbyt
często spada, by zrobić miejsce war metalowym akordom czy ślizgom po gryfie.
Linie gitarowe to nieustanny szturm, bezustanny atak wściekłych akordów, na
zmianę prących maksymalnie naprzód i wchodzących w wolniejsze, rytmiczne
riffowanie. O dziwo jest w tych chaosie sporo melodii, a nie wyłącznie
jednolitej ściany dźwięku, i pod tym względem Primitive Warfare wychylają nieco
głowę ponad standardową przyzwoitość. Niektóre fragmenty swoją skocznością i
punkowym zabarwieniem przypominać mogą nawet Haemorrhage z najlepszych lat. Z
drugiej strony, wspomniane już bezlitosne blastowanie to nierzadko wychodzenie
poza ogólny kanon death / black metalu i wkraczanie na tereny grindowe. Tym
bardziej jest to słyszalne, kiedy głęboki growl przełamywany jest wrzaskiem w
nieco wyższej tonacji. Powrót do wojennego klimatu zapewniają jednak
przewijające się na płycie sample o oczywistej tematyce. Nie znajdziecie tu
technicznych popisów czy silenia się na oryginalność. Bo nawet jeśli się ona
chwilami zarysowuje, to w sposób całkowicie naturalny i niewymuszony. Jakkolwiek by „Extinction Protocol” jednak nie
słuchać i jak rozkładać na czynniki pierwsze, to i tak w ostateczności wyjdzie
nam w równaniu totalny rozpierdol. Widać Godz ov War w tym roku na razie cisną
po bandzie i dorzucają do pieca lokomotywy tyle węgla, ile się tylko w nim
zmieści. Na pewno debiut Primitive Warfare to jedna z najbrutalniejszych
pozycji w ich katalogu. Potężny cios, milordzie, potężny.

Records like
"Extinction Protocol" are basically trivial to figure out. Here, in
fact, everything is obvious from the first moment. The logo, the reading of
which is a job for a cryptographer, the cover, which eloquently suggests that
there is a war going on here, the artistic pseudonyms of the musicians, not to
mention the title of the release or the name of the band. One almost wants to
sing the classic "And no one will leave from here alive..." (An 80’s
rock song from Polish Perfect band). And rightly so, for the art of killing the
gentlemen of Primitive Warfare have mastered to, nomen omen, perfection. This
is music without much philosophy, unless we consider total destruction as such.
For about half an hour we are battered by a cannonade of blastbeats, the tempo
of which not too often slows down to make room for war metal chords or slides
on the neck. The guitar lines are a constant assault, a relentless attack of
furious chords, alternately pushing maximum forward and entering slower,
rhythmic riffing. Surprisingly, there is a good deal of melody in this chaos,
rather than just a uniform wall of sound, and in this respect Primitive Warfare
bows its head slightly above standard decency. Some parts with their jumpiness
and punk tinge may even remind of Haemorrhage from their best years. On the
other hand, the aforementioned relentless blasting is sometimes stepping
outside the general death / black metal canon and inviding the grindcore
territory. This is all the more audible when the deep growl is broken by
screaming in a slightly higher key. However, the return to the war atmosphere
is provided by the samples with obvious themes scrolling through the album. You
won't find any technical show-offs here or efforts at originality. For even if
it is outlined at times, it comes out in a completely natural and unforced
manner. However you listen to
"Extinction Protocol" and however you dissect it, in the end it still
comes out in the equation a total destruction. It's apparent Godz ov War is
pulling their punches so far this year and adding as much coal to the
locomotive stove as they can fit in it. Certainly Primitive Warfare's debut is
one of the most brutal releases in their catalog. A mighty blow, milord, a mighty
one.
